Diegomar Raymundo “Diego” Markwell was born on August 8th 1980 in Willemstad, Curaçao.
Markwell was signed at the age of 16 as a free agent pitcher by the Toronto Blue Jays. He pitched for 7 years in the Toronto Blue Jays organization before heading to the Netherlands to pitch in the Dutch Hoofdklasse in 2004 for Curaçao Neptunus.
He was also part of the pitching staff for Kingdom of the Netherlands at the 2004 Olympics, the 2006, 2009, 2013 and 2017 World Baseball Classic and various other international tournaments and always gives it his all when he’s on the mound.
In 2011 he became a champion with the Dutch baseball team in Panama City at the Baseball World Cup and he has won 4 gold medals with the Dutch baseball team at the European Baseball Championship.
