Kalian Rivalino Sams was born on August 25th of 1986 in The Hague, Netherlands. He began his career in 2004 in the Dutch Hoofdklasse, but after two season he was signed by the Seattle Mariners on July 2nd 2006.
After playing for various minor-league teams of the Mariners, he was released on April 23rd of 2013. During 2013 to 2015 he played for minor-league teams for the San Diego Padres and Texas Rangers, Algodoneros de Guasave from the Mexican Pacific Winter League, Camden Riversharks from the Atlantic League, Corendon Kinheim from the Dutch Hoofdklasse and Delfines de Ciudad del Carmen from the Mexican League.
In 2015 Sams signed with the Québec Capitales from the CanAm League and since then he’s played the last 3 seasons with the Capitales, where he became a champion for the first time of the CanAm League with the Capitales in 2017.
He has also represented the The Kingdom of the Netherlands in the 2013 and 2017 World Baseball Classic, and we shouldn’t forget that he was the one that hit the sac-fly in the 9th inning of the 2013 World Baseball Classic that led to the famous walk-off win for The Kingdom of the Netherlands over Cuba.
